Has anyone had any success with all-natural sleeping pills?

I tried the ones with melatonin (not sure that really counts as all-natural), and while it did put me to sleep, I woke up not feeling rested.

I'm on day 8 of using biodream.. and so far I like it.. but I want to make sure after at least 14 days. I like that's its extremely cheaper than ambien.

What else has everyone tried? I'll keep you posted on bio D.

Have you tried Valerian root? You can pick it up at a health food store. While you're there, pick up some Chamomile and Hops flowers and mix them all together for a power-packed sleepy tea.

I tried valerian root (the one that smells like crap) and kava kava.

Both seem more psyhcological to me.. but who knows. Sometimes placebo works.

Valerian root definitely has known relaxing and/or sedative effects.  Simply harvesting the stuff causes sleepiness although I am not sure if the effective pathway is by touch or airborne.

You may need to adjust your dosage higher (slowly) to feel an effect and a lack of strict standardization within the holistic supplement world means differing brands if the same overall dosage may yield significantly differing effective dosages.

My experience has been that with an effective dose Valerian works (currently I take four 470 mg capsules) however like with the stimulants I seem to build up a tolerance.

Currently when the stimulants build up and leave with with bad insomnia I take the Valerian with 3-6 mg of melatonin and 1-2 tablets of low dose of magnesium.

WARNING on the magnesium:  Magnesium is very cardiovascular interactive and may be counter indicated if you have any form of cardiac, cardiovascular and/or blood issues that you are or have been treated for.  Please discuss with your physician first if this is the case.

I love BioDream. I used to have such a hard time sleeping. I would stay up even when I was tired. For some reason I just couldn't fall asleep. I fall asleep so much better now. I also love that it is all natural. I hate taking medicines, but not this one because I know it is natural.

Melatonin made me groggy the next day. I don't know if the results are independent but I am really hoping to get some good tips on what to try. I will try one of these that other have suggested. I really don't like to take pills but will try anything at this point.

There are lots of "natural" sleeping potions out there - valerian root made into a tea works for some people, tart cherry extract works for others. Then there's kava and chamomile and calcium/magnesium supplements.

I'd give any of them at least 30 days of daily/nightly use to see if they work for you - their effect (if there will be any) is generally cumulative.

I've tried them all with no effect - what turns out to work best is basic sleep hygiene

Cheers,
Doug
